Schuylkill County Children & Youth Services

Children and Youth provides the necessary services to help preserve the family unit. The agency will provide temporary, alternative living arrangements for children when necessary, while providing services directed at reunification of troubled families. The Agency's primary concern while providing all services is the safety and well being of the child.

STS - Schuylkill Transportation System

STS exists to serve the public transportation needs of all the residents of Schuylkill County.  The website includes bus schedules, bus services information, transit programs, bus policies, and lots of other important transportation information.

The Schuylkill United Way is dedicated to providing funding, guidance and encouragement to the 15 partner agencies that provide a variety of programs and services to the residents of Schuylkill County for little to no charge.  This website has information about different agencies and community activities.

SAM - Service Access & Management, Inc

Intake - Residents of Schuylkill County should contact the office for an appointment to meet with an intake worker. Appointments are scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM.  Requests for accommodation will be considered.         

Adult Mental Health - Case management is provided with the objective of coordinating mental health services, advocating on behalf of the consumer, and monitoring the consumer's various community services.

MR Support Coordination -  Mental Retardation Support Coordination is a service intended to link individuals to services, resources and benefits while focusing on choice, individuality and control in consumers lives.

Early Intervention  - Early Intervention refers to a process identifying a very young child who is at risk of or who has a disability or delay affecting his/her typical development.

Child Development

The professionals at Child Development work with families and the community to provide high quality, comprehensive preschool education.  To meet the needs of parents who are working or receiving job training, Child Development also offers state-licensed child care centers throughout Schuylkill county.  Each center provides service Monday through Friday in a 12 month program for children six weeks to kindergarten, including children with disabilities.

Schuylkill County Drug & Alcohol Program

The Schuylkill County MH/MR and Drug and Alcohol Program has dedicated itself to making sure that individuals and families in Schuylkill County who have been affected by Drug or Alcohol abuse receive the services they need in order to live productive, drug and alcohol free lives.  Schuylkill County MH/MR & Drug and Alcohol Program sponsors a central intake units which helps to get an abusive drinker or drug user into treatment.  This service is provided by Service Access & Management.

BBBS - Big Brothers/Big Sisters

Big Brothers Big Sisters matches children ages 6 through 18 with mentors in professionally supported one-to-one relationships.
 
Community-based Mentoring : For as little as an hour a week, Bigs and Littles meet in their community to share fun activities … stories … and a little bit of themselves.
 
School-based Mentoring : Bigs and Littles meet once a week in schools, libraries and community centers, to talk and have fun. It’s not about being a tutor … it’s about being a friend.
